Delhi horror: Man kills wife for petty reason; sleeps next to dead body

In a shocking incident reported from the national capital’s Sultanpur area, a 47-year-old man allegedly beat-up his wife after an argument and choked her to death at their house on Thursday. The couple had alcohol and when the wife refused to serve dinner, an argument erupted between the two, prompting him to kill her.

The man slept with the dead body and realised that she was dead after he woke up. The accused, identified as Vinod Kumar Dubey, aged 47, a native of Sultanpur, has now been taken into police custody.

Following the crime, the accused also tried to run away from Delhi with more than Rs 40,000 cash but was tracked down and arrested from another location in the national capital.

Earlier on 17th June at around 9:30 am, police got information that Vinod Kumar Dubey killed his wife, identified as Sonali Dubey. Police arrived at the crime spot and discovered that the accused killed his wife by beating and smothering her with the a pillow. Police registered a case under sections 259, 202 and 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and a probe was launched.

"A police team inquired the caller and locals about the accused. Through surveillance and technical analysis, the location of the accused person was zeroed down. Hence, a trap was laid and accused Vinod Kumar Dubey was arrested, " Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Pawan Kumar said.

"A total of 43,280 along with a bag containing his belongings, two liquor bottles and a bloodstained pillow have been recovered from his possession, "he added.

Upon further investigation, the accused said that he and his wife drank alcohol on Thursday night and when he asked her to serve him dinner, she refused. This resulted in an argument between them and the wife slapped him.

An infuriated Vinod, in a fit of anger, murdered his wife. He was trying to runaway from Delhi along with the cash, however, was arrested, police said.
