Autorickshaw driver sets woman on fire for this shocking reason

In an appalling incident reported from Nashik, a woman was allegedly set on fire by a man after she stopped hiring his autorickshaw. The dirver was allegedly aggrieved at the woman over her decision. The woman, who owned a business of sarees, bore 90 per cent burn injuries in the time of the incident.

The victim has been identified as Bharati Gaund. Reportedly, the accused also suffered burns in the time of the crime and ran away from the crime spot. However, he was later apprehended and was taken to a hospital.


The victim’s elder sister, identified as Sushila also suffered burn injuries as she tried to save Bharati. On Tuesday, the victim had gone to Sushila's house and during this time, the accused also came there. The accused allegedly began arguing with the victim and slapped her.

The accused told the woman to come out of the house and when she denied, he allegedly pulled out a bottle of inflammable liquid and threw it at her, The Times of India reported. The accused then lit a matchstick and threw it at Gaund.

The victim’s elder sister, identified as Sushila rushed to save her sister from the flames and took her to the Nashik civil hospital. Reportedly, the accused ran away from the crime spot after setting Gaund on fire.

According to the investigating officer SB Chopade, they found the accused at his relative's house and took him to a hospital because to the injuries. As per Chopade, the accused and victim knew one another from before. The victim often hired the accused's autorickshaw but had recently stopped taking his services. He added, "This could be the reason for him attempting to kill her. We are investigating the case further. "
