21-year-old woman raped in moving car while travelling from Agra

In yet another incident of crime coming in from Uttar Pradesh, a 21-year-old woman was allegedly raped by a man in a moving car while they were travelling from Agra, police said on Thursday.

A day following the horrifying crime, the woman allegedly attempted to commit suicide by consuming poison. However, the woman’s condition is now said to be out of danger, a senior police officer said.


The unfortunate incident occurred on Tuesday, when the accused accompanied the woman to Agra for her to appear in a sub-inspector recruitment exam. She was allegedly raped while returning, he said.

The accused then left the woman in the suburbs of Kosi Kalan area of Mathura. The main accused in the case was taken into police custody on Thursday, while his accomplice is still at large, Superintendent of Police (rural) Shrish Chandra said.

The accused duo, who are said to be between 22-25 years of age, are a resident of Manpur village of Palwal in Haryana. Two police teams have been setup to trace and arrest the absconder, he said.

As maintained by police, Tejveer had met the victim through social media and won her trust.

Based on the FIR registered by the brother of the victim woman, a medical examination was carried out and her statement under section 161 of the Indian Penal Code was recorded, police said.

The car that was used in the crime has also been confiscated.
