Royal couple Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to move into extravagant 21-Bedroom "Apartment" after the wedding
The royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will take place May 19. The couple has already to shift from Kensington Palace's Nottingham Cottage to a new cottage, House Beautiful UK reports.
They are planning to move into Apartment 1 on palace grounds, which has luxurious casual 21 bedrooms. Before the royal couple planned to shift, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester were staying there but they had planned to make way for the newlyweds.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle got engaged in November 2017. Just after the engagement renovations reportedly began, according to Daily Mail.
Prince William and Kate Middleton took the same decision in 2011 when they got married. They started living in Nottingham Cottage before transferring to Kensington Palace's Apartment 1A, which has 20 bedrooms.
The construction process is still going on, the locals are fascinated for months watching the white plastic sheets cover and uncover parts of the building, while a massive team worked at top speed.
A source told Daily Mail, "Prince Harry kept popping round and asking when it will be ready. He seems in a real hurry to move in with Meghan."
"Nottingham Cottage is quite small but clearly being within Kensington Palace it is very safe," royal expert Penny Junor told House Beautiful UK. "I think it is unlikely they would move to some random house elsewhere in London because the cost of security would be an additional burden on the taxpayer and a recipe for bad publicity."
Junor added: "So my suspicion is they might be offered a larger apartment at Kensington Palace – if one is available. But I would have thought it will only become an issue when/if they have children and need more space."
