Hollywood's latest action flick, Deadpool has beaten Fitoor at the Indian Box Office. The weekend collections of the Ryan Reynolds starrer have surpassed that of the Abhishek Kapoor directorial.
As tweeted by popular trade analyst Taran Adarsh, Deadpool has churned out a total of Rs 14. 25 crore. The breakup is as follows:
Friday: Rs 4: 10 crore
Saturday: Rs 4: 90 crore
Sunday: Rs 5. 25 crore
The film has recorded an average occupancy of 70 per cent, gaining from the Valentine's Day weekend.

On the other hand. Fitoor, featuring Tabu, Katrina Kaif and Aditya Roy Kapur minted a total of Rs 14. 11 crore. The film has failed to impress audiences and critics. Here are the weekend collections of Fitoor, as tweeted by Adarsh:

Shikha Kapur, the chief marketing officer of Fox Star Studios, which marketed and distributed Deadpool in India, credits the success in India to innovative marketing activities, which generated awareness about the film. She said:
"The marketing activities that were planned around the film was focused, strategic and concentrated towards the target audience .The biggest challenge was to promote this foul-mouthed Marvel character who was relatively unknown in India.

All the efforts were handsomely rewarded when the film opened to a higher number and much higher occupancy than the Bollywood counterparts that released in the same week," Kapur said.
Internationally, Deadpool has raked in almost $135 million in just the first three days in theatres in the US, reports variety.com.
