U18 I-League: Shillong Lajong thump Guwahati FC 9-0 in group stage game

Shillong Lajong strengthened their hopes of making it to the final round of the U18 I-League on Thursday, 26 November, with a thumping 9-0 win over Guwahati FC in a zonal round game.

Playing away from home, Lajong scored two quickfire goals inside the first 10 minutes, courtesy of Samuel Lalmuanpuia and Sana Singh. The Shillong-based outfit added two more goals in the first half, and went into the breather with a 4-0 lead.

In the second half, Guwahati FC continued to struggle with the pace of the Lajong side, and shipped five more goals in the 45 minutes. For Lajong, Lalmuanpuia completed his hattrick in the second half, while Hardycliff Nongbri scored a brace.

The win lifted Lajong to second position in the Northeast zonal group, with 10 points from 5 games. Royal Wahingdoh, who are yet to lose a game so far, remain top of the group with 13 points.
