Louis van Gone! Manchester United part ways with their manager; Mourinho set to take over

Manchester United have sacked manager Louis van Gaal, two days after the Dutch tactician led the club to the FA Cup title, ending speculation over the future of the 64-year-old.

Van Gaal, who took over the managerial position at United in the summer of 2014, has come under severe criticism this past season after a highly inconsistent campaign saw the club finish fifth in the league, below the Champions League places.

United also failed to make it past the group stages in the Champions League, after an underwhelming campaign saw them finish third in their group.

On the other hand, former Chelsea, Porto, Inter Milan and Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho is set to take over the managerial reins at the club, with many media outlets in England reporting the Portuguese manager will be in Manchester on Tuesday, 24 May, to finalise the deal.
