  • Robin Singh had a quiet start to the ISL season and faced criticism for his lacklustre performances.
  • However, in the 42nd minute, a Chicao cross from the right flank was headed in by Singh after he beat his marker, the Brazilian World Cup winner Lucio.
  • The goal continues the Delhi lad\'s recent hot goal scoring streak.

Delhi Dynamos edged past FC Goa in the first leg of the Indian Super League semi-final at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Friday, 11 December, courtesy a header from Indian striker Robin Singh.

The Dynamos put forward a disciplined and organised performance, and got their reward in the 42nd minute when a Chicao cross from the right flank was headed in by Singh after he beat his marker, the Brazilian World Cup winner Lucio.

Singh had a quiet start to the ISL season and faced criticism for his lacklustre performances, but has since come into his own scoring crucial goals against Mumbai City FC, FC Pune City and now in the semi-final against FC Goa.

Speaking about his performance Robin said,

"To begin with, my goals come because of the quality in my team. My job is to be at the right place at the right time and I do my best to score goals and perform. All goals I have scored are because of the quality of the ball I get in the box. So, I will like to thank my team."

"Talking about critics I never pay heed to them and I never will in future as well. They can keep talking. My job is to work hard and not answer them."

When asked how it felt to finally get the better of the former World Cup winner Lucio, the Delhi lad said,

"Defenders job is to try and stop me from scoring. On previous occasions he got better of me but today I finally got better of him. As a defender I would not take anything away from him - after all he is Lucio. I should be proud of myself that I got in front of him and scored. I will like to wish him all the best for the second leg in Goa. I would love to do it again in Goa."
