Weather update: Maximum temperature in Delhi expected to touch 42 degrees, heatwave likely

The weather agency has forecasted that the maximum temperature in Delhi is likely to settle at 42 degrees Celsius on Tuesday, two degrees above the 40.6 degrees Celsius recorded on the previous day.

According to the forecast by the Indian Meteorological Department, heat wave conditions are likely in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh from April 28 to 30 with the maximum temperature soaring to 43 degrees Celsius on Wednesday.


However, the temperature could drop if the western disturbance progresses towards the national capital, prompting cloudy conditions in Delhi.

Furthermore, similar heatwave conditions are likely over Gujarat, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh from April 27 to 30, said IMD.

 

Delhi on Tuesday logged the minimum temperature at 24.9 degrees Celsius, a degree more than normal. In the meantime, the Sports Complex in East Delhi recorded the highest maximum temperature of 43.1 degrees Celsius on Monday,
