GATE 2020 Admit Card Released; Download now!

IIT Delhi has released GATE 2020 admit card at the official website i.e. appsgate.iitd.ac.in. Candidates can download the admit card by entering their enrollment number and password. Candidates who have successfully registered themselves will only be able to download their admit card. Students can download GATE admit card from the link gate.iitd.ac.in.

The admit cards for all registered candidates have been made available on the official website from January 3, 2020 onwards. The examination is to be held over four days on February 1, 2, 8 and 9. Each of the exam days will be divided into two slots, the morning session from 9:30 AM-12:30 PM and the afternoon session from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM.


IIT Delhi has put out a prominent notice on the official website cautioning students against responding to fake messages or calls regarding details. In the opinion, GATE 2020 Authority has warned students that various dishonest and malicious groups are circulating messages to students pretending to be the GATE Authority or IITs to extract information from candidates. They are also releasing fake GATE test series. The notice mentions that only information published on the official website should be relied upon.

GATE exam is the entrance exam for admission to M.Tech, M.Sc. and Doctoral programs in architecture at government universities and colleges. GATE scores are also required to join various PSUs (Public Sector Undertakings).

In the three-hour exam duration, students are required to answer a total of 65 questions carrying a total of 100 marks. The questions can be Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) type or Numerical Answer Type (NATs). GATE score remains valid for three years after the declaration of results.

GATE 2020 exam will be conducted for 25 disciplines in the fields of engineering, architecture, biomedical, geology, statistics and many others. A candidate can appear for only one discipline in a particular year. The centres for the examination are spread over various cities in India as well as in six cities outside the country.

How to Download GATE Admit Card?

GATE 2020 admit card can easily be downloaded by following the steps mentioned below:

● Click on this link http://gate.iitd.ac.in/ and locate the GATE 2020 admit card link.
● Click on the login tab and enter your email address and password.
● Now, the admit card will appear on your screen, and you can go ahead and take a print out of the admit card.
● Students must bear in mind that they will not be allowed to enter the exam hall without their admit card and an original photo identity card (e.g. Aadhar Card, Voter’s ID Card, Driver’s License etc.)

Students are strictly instructed to not carry any electronic devices such as mobile phones or calculators into the examination hall. If a candidate is found to be using any dishonest means in the examination hall, he/ she is liable to be disqualified immediately.

GATE 2020 is to be a purely Computer Based Test (CBT). The result for the same will be published in online mode only. The published result includes the total marks obtained by the student, his/ her GATE score, his/ her AIR (All India Rank) and the cut off for the various categories in the candidate’s paper. The cut off marks vary from year to year and are different for General Category students, OBC students and Sc/ ST students.

The exam is conducted jointly by the seven IITs (Delhi, Mumbai, Kharagpur, Kanpur, Roorkee, Guwahati and Chennai) and IISc Bangalore. These institutes conduct the exam on behalf of the Government of India Department of Higher Education Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) and the National Coordination Board (NCB)- GATE. For this year’s exam, there are more than 8.5 lakh registered candidates.
