In an appalling incident reported from the national capital, a 19-year-old man murdered his elder brother after he slapped him for talking to his sister-in-law. The incident happened in north-east Delhi's Karawal Nagar area.

The accused, identified as Prashant Chand, has now been taken into custody by Delhi Police. According to police, the family of the victim Prem Shankar tried to secretly cremate his corpse without telling the cops.

According to the victim’s family, Shankar passed away after falling from his bed. However, the priest who performed the last rites of the victim told police that he suspected Shankar had died of bullet injury.

As maintained by Police, a case of murder has been registered and the accused has been arrested. The accused is doing his graduation from the School of Open Learning.

"We came to know about the incident on June 27 when we received a call from the pandit and rushed to the cremation ground. The body of one Prem Shankar was wrapped in a white shroud. After inspection, we found an injury mark on the left side of neck, and a deep injury mark on the right side of neck,” the report quoted DCP Sanjay Sain, as saying. The forensic team was also called to the crime spot in order to gather crucial evidence.

According to Police, the father of the victim knew that his younger son killed his elder brother but the family decided to fabricate a story to avoid further questioning. The family reportedly told police that the victim suffered a serious head injury after falling from his bed and died.

In the time of interrogation, the accused told police that his brother, who got married last month, was disturbed after he started speaking to his sister-in-law. Shankar was in opposition to Prashant talking to the woman and scolded him on many occasions.

When the victim saw Prashant again talking to his sister-in-law, he slapped his brother who took out a country-made pistol and shot him dead.
