On 20 July, a Delhi court granted interim bail to DG Corporate Affairs BK Bansal who was in CBI custody after he was arrested in a bribery case.

This comes a day after Bansal's - an IAS officer - wife and daughter committed suicide in their Mayur Vihar residence in Delhi.

According to reports, both were found hanging from ceiling fans, in separate bedrooms. The police has also reportedly recovered two suicide notes from Bansal's residence which allegedly mentioned his arrest.

Bansal, Director General, Corporate Affairs, was arrested on bribery charges on 16 July.

The CBI, during its search of the eight locations in connection with the case, claimed to have recovered over Rs 56 lakh from Bansal, while Rs 16 lakh was recovered from Delhi-based middle man Vishwadeep Bansal, PTI reported.

Bansal was caught red handed accepting a bribe of Rs 9 lakh as well.

Bansal, senior administrative grade officer of Indian Corporate Law Service (ICLS), was promoted to the post of Director General of Corporate Affairs (DGCA) last year.
