Over 630 people were fined for drunken driving in the national capital in 48 hours, Delhi Traffic Police said in a series of tweets on 4 June.

The police also reported that 1,622 people lost their lives in road accidents in Delhi in 2015.

In pursuant to the recommendations of the committee for road safety set up by Supreme Court, drunken driving is one of the five traffic offences which can amount to suspension of driver's licence for three months.
