Delhi Police on Tuesday stated that a 52-year-old woman died after jumping off the fifth floor of an apartment building.
As maintained by city Police, the victim, identified as Neha Verma, a native of Nirankari Colony in Mukherjee Nagar, jumped from a roof of a building just as her husband, identified as Dharam Verma was driving into the building. She was right away taken to a nearby hospital where she was declared dead on arrival.
The deceased (Neha) and her husband stayed in the building. The couple has a son and a daughter who resides in the US.
The couple were seeking a separation, as per the police, and just before jumping to death, Neha sent an "I love you" message to her husband. The incident was recorded on the CCTV camera.
Furthermore, the police are looking into the CCTV footage and the mobile phone of the deceased. The autopsy will be carried out once her son and daughter arrive in Delhi.
In another petrifying incident of crime reported from Pune’s Ghorwadeshwar Hills, a 25-year-old man has been taken into police custody for allegedly raping and killing his 19-year-old sister-in-law on Sunday.
As per the police, the accused had earlier offered a place to live to his newlywed cousin and his wife in the Dehu Road area.
According to a report by The Indian Express, the accused together with his friend and the victim had gone to visit the temple on Ghorwadeshwar Hills on Sunday.
“The accused and his friend asked the victim for sexual favours. When the woman refused, the accused and his friend allegedly raped her and killed her with a scarf. The victim's face was also smashed using a stone,” added the police.
In the meantime, the woman’s husband had registered a missing complaint with the police after she didn’t come back home.
Following an investigation into the matter, the police took the main accused into their custody. However, his friend is still at large.
