Team India will lock horns with South Africa in the first match of the three-match ODI series on Wednesday at the Boland Park in Paarl. KL Rahul is all set to lead the side for the first time in the limited over format following Rohit Sharma’s hamstring injury.

The first match of the series can be an unforgettable one for the leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal if he get a chance to be in the playing eleven. Chahal is verging on achieving a huge milestone as he requires only 3 wickets to complete his 100 wickets in ODIs.

If the leg spinner completes his 100 wickets on Wednesday, then he will also be the joint second-fastest Indian bowler alongside Jasprit Bumrah to secure the milestone.

Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah had picked-up 100 ODI wickets in 57 matches and Chahal has featured in 56 games thus far.

Mohammed Shami tops the list of the Indian bowlers as he had reached his 100 wickets in 56 ODIs. However, Afghanistan's Rashid Khan (44 ODIs) is the overall leader.

Chahal had last featured in an ODI game in July against Sri Lanka and after that, he was dropped from India's T20 World Cup squad regardless of his praise-worthy record for the men in blue in limited over cricket.

India have already tasted defeat in the Test series 1-2 against South Africa last week and they will eye for a resurgence in the ODIs. The last time in 2018 when the 'Men In Blue' played in South Africa they became the first Indian side to win an ODI series in the Rainbow nations.
