The Boxing Day Test saw a lot of sledging between Australian skipper and wicket-keeper Tim Paine and Indian wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant. Both of them were involved in war of words when they were wicket-keeping for their respective sides. When Rishabh Pant came in to bat for his second innings, Tim Paine gave him a hard time.

When both the teams were invited for a party at Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison’s home, the Prime Minister while welcoming guests with his wife met Pant and said, “Aah Yes, you sledges right. You are very welcome, we like competitive game”.

Tim Paine attacked Rishabh Pant in the second innings on Day 3 at MCG. Paine teased Pant over his exclusion from the ODI squad. Paine said, “Big MS (Dhoni) is back in one-day squad, we might get Pant to Hobart Hurricanes (BBL team)”, he also added, “extend your little Aussie holiday..will you babysit?”

Pant then replied Paine when he came in to bat for his second innings, Paine was on strike when Ravindra Jadeja was bowling to him. Pant said, "We have got a special guest here. Have you heard the word temporary captain ever. You [Jadeja] don't need anything to get him out. Come on lads.

"He loves to talk, that's the only thing he can do. Only talking talking," Pant sledged from behind the stumps. After the end of the over, on-field umpire Ian Gould had a word with Pant and was seen explaining him something.

India and Australia are playing a four match series in which India are up with 2-1. India won the Boxing Day Test by 137 runs and have retained the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. India will now play the forth Test in Sydney.
