Former Indian Batsman Virendra Sehwag has disclosed that Sachin Tendulkar was the only person who believed that Pakistan skipper Sarfarz Ahmed had made a mistake when he choose to field first against the men in blue in the World Cup clash last Sunday.

Sarfraz’s decision to send India to bat first proved nothing less than a tragedy, as team India put up a colossal score of 336/5 following Rohit Sharma’s terrific 140 and Virat Kohli’s 77.

On the contrary, Pakistan failed to maintain the required run rate and lost wickets in quick succession, especially during crucial stages in the match. As a result, they lost to India by 89 runs through DLS method.

India’s win against arch foes Pakistan, however kept their winning streak in the World Cup intact, making it seven wins in seven games.

“From all the people at the ground including Wasim Akram, Ramiz Raja, Sachin Tendulkar etc, every person said that whichever captain wins the toss will choose to field, except for one person and that person was Sachin Tendulkar,” Sehwag was quoted as saying by The Nation.

“He [Tendulkar] said that whenever there’s an India-Pakistan match, you shouldn’t look at anything else, not the weather, not the wicket. It’s a big game and there’s a lot of pressure on both sides, it’s better to [enjoy] pressure-free batting because even if you make 150 runs, there’s a chance of winning” added Sehwag.
