Virat Kohli & Co. denied security cover by Chandigarh police over unpaid bills by BCCI

Indian cricket team will play the second T20I match against South Africa in Mohali, Punjab. The first match was abandoned due to heavy rain in Dharamshala. Before the second T20I match the Indian team reached Mohali and were escorted by the local police till Chandigarh border.

The Chandigarh police denied security cover to Virat Kohli and boys due to unpaid bills by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Both the Indian and South African team reached Mohali and received security till Chandigarh border. The Chandigarh police denied security citing the unpaid bills by the BCCI. It is to be noted that both the teams successfully reached their team hotels after private security arrangements were provided.


The second match will be played at IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali on September 18. The Indian team is playing many young cricketers like Navdeep Saini, Rahul Chahar, Khaleel Ahmed, Krunal Pandya and Shreyas Iyer. The South African team will be led by Quinton de Kock as the senior players Faf du Plessis and Hashim Amla are missing.

India and South Africa will also play a three-match Test series starting from October 2. The T20I series is part of preparation before the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup.
