T20 World Cup 2021

The Australian side picked up a sensational victory to end Pakistan’s unbeaten run in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2021 and get to the final of the tournament, where they will lockhorns with another heavyweight New Zealand.

The Aussies looked in a spot of bother during the chase after being reduced to 96 for five in 12.2 overs, however, Matthew Wade and Marcus Stoinis produced a brilliant unbeaten stand of 81 runs off just 41 balls to take their team to victory in the semi-final clash.

Following Australia's victory over Pakistan, many cricket fans took to Twitter to share several hilarious memes.

The Pakistan side were sent to bat after the Aussies won the toss and chose to bowl first in Dubai.

Skipper Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan gave Pakistan a brilliant start again. After Babar fell for 39, Fakhar Zaman and Rizwan added 72 runs off 46 balls for the second wicket to put their team on top.

Rizwan fell for 67 by Mitchell Starc while Asif Ali fell for a first ball duck. Shoaib Malik also fell cheaply as Pakistan looked to finish big.

Regardless of losing wickets at the other end, Fakhar Zaman continued to thrash the Aussie bowlers to all parts of the stadium, remaining not-out on 55 off just 32 deliveries as Pakistan posted a decent total of 176/4.

Australia's run chase got off to a very poor start as skipper Aaron Finch was out for a golden duck in the very first over by Shaheen Shah Afridi. Whilst David Warner and Mitchell Marsh, counter-attacked brilliantly to put the Aussies on the front foot following the powerplay.

However, things went from bad to worst for the Aussies quickly after that. Marsh was dismissed right after the end of the powerplays while Steve Smith was dismissed very cheaply. Warner was going well but was dismissed by Shadab Khan, just one short of his half-century. Glenn Maxwell could not make a significant impact and soon Australia found themselves staring down the barrel with Pakistan in complete control.

That's when Marcus Stoinis and Matthew Wade joined hands and advanced to demolish the Pakistan bowling unit. Wade finished things off with a barrage of sixes as Australia set up a mouthwatering final against the Kiwis.
