Steve Smith reclaim No. 1 Test batsman position from Virat Kohli

Australia batsman Steve Smith reclaimed his No. 1 Test batsman ranking from the Indian skipper Virat Kohli. Steve Smith was banned for a period of one year during their Test series against South Africa in March 2018.

Smith made his comeback in Test cricket after a gap of one and a half year in the ongoing Ashes series in England. Smith scored two hundreds in his very first game and scored another 92 in the second match before he was injured and was ruled out of the match.


Virat Kohli, on the other hand, scored 9, 51, 76 and 0 in the recently concluded Test series against West Indies. Virat Kohli lost his position to Steve Smith but will get a chance to reclaim it during South Africa series.

Virat Kohli and Steve Smith are the greatest batting rivals in modern-day cricket. Virat Kohli has 6749 runs from 79 Test matches which include 25 hundreds. While Steve Smith has played 66 Test matches and scored 6577 runs including 25 hundreds.

New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson and Indian batsman Cheteshwar Pujara continued to maintain their No.3 and No.4 rankings respectively.
