Barmy Army, a semi-organised group of English cricket fans, trolled Australian cricketers Steve Smith, David Warner, Cameron Bancroft and ex-Australia coach Darren Lehmann on Twitter over the ball-tampering controversy on the day of the Oscars. Sharing the images of the four Australians, the account asked, "It's almost time for the Oscars! Who gets your vote for Best Supporting Actor?"

Steve Smith, David Warner and Cameron Bancroft were banned after the ball-tampering scandal that hit Australian cricket in March last year. Smith and his team were playing Test cricket against South Africa when David Warner, Cameron Bancroft and captain Smith were accused of ball-tampering with sand paper, to which all of them agreed to.

Steve Smith suffered an elbow injury during his stint at Bangladesh Premier League after which his comeback in IPL 2019 remains doubtful. David Warner too is recovering from an elbow injury which he suffered in Bangladesh Premier League and his return in IPL also remains in cloud. Both Steve Smith and David Warner will be looking forward to play for their national side in the 2019 World Cup.

Both Smith and Warner are missing from the Australian squad while Australia is playing a two-match T20I and a five-match bilateral ODI series in India. Australia is already 1-0 up in the two-match T20I series as they won the first match by 3 wickets in Visakhapatnam on February 24. The second and final T20I will be played at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on February 27.
