Indian women’s cricket team opener Smriti Mandhana is making new records everyday just like her male counterpart Virat Kohli. In recent times, Smriti has become a crucial member of India women’s team and trying to finish games like Virat Kohli does for his team.

Mandhana while speaking to Sportstar magazine said that she wants to stay longer at the crease and not give away her wicket easily. She wants to finish the game for her team. Mandhana said, “The way Virat (Kohli) finishes matches, I would like to take a leaf out of it.”

Mandhana is currently ranked number one in ICC’s one-day international rankings and number three on ICC’s T20I rankings. Mandhana has led the runs charts since 2018. Mandhana scored 1,018 runs from 18 matches in ODI cricket since January last year. Mandhana has scored at an average of 67.86 and strike rate of 90.97.

Smriti Mandhana was handed over captaincy of team India in T20 internationals last year. She captained her side in three games against visiting England, but the host were whitewashed by England women. Mandhana made her ODI and T20I India debut in 2013 against Bangladesh and her Test debut came a year later against England.

Mandhana has 1,951 runs from 50 ODI matches she has played so far, including four centuries and 16 half-centuries. Mandhana’s ODI average is 42.41. She has 1,298 runs from 58 T20Is including 9 half-centuries and scored at an average of 24.96. Mandhana has played only two Test matches for India and scored 81 runs at an average of 27.00.
