Mumbai batsman Shreyas Iyer slammed 55-ball 147 runs in a match against Sikkim in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Shreyas Iyer broke Rishabh Pant’s 128 runs record to become the highest Indian run-scorer in T20 cricket. Before Pant the record was held by Murali Vijay for 8 long years, Vijay made 127 for Chennai Super Kings in 2010.

Shreyas was playing for Mumbai in their Group C match when he helped his team pile up a mammoth score of 258 for 4 in 20 overs. The score fell 5 runs short of all-time highest score in T20 cricket, jointly held by Australia and Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Shreyas Iyer has played 6 ODIs and exactly the same number of T20Is for India. Shreyas made his international debut for India in a T20I match against New Zealand in 2017. Shreyas played his last match for India in February 2018 against South Africa in Centurion ODI.

Shreyas is currently the captain of the Indian Premier League side Delhi Capitals. Last year, Iyer made 411 runs for Delhi Capitals in just 14 matches with a highest score of 93*. Shreyas took the captaincy from veteran Gautam Gambhir after the latter decided to retire in mid-season.
