India was the most dominating team in the World Cup but lost the most important match of the tournament. India was eliminated after they lost by 18 runs against New Zealand. Ravindra Jadeja played the inning of his life as he scored 77 runs before he was dismissed by Trent Boult. But it was not enough to help India finish the game.

Ravindra Jadeja’s wife Rivaba Jadeja has said that he was inconsolable after losing the match. He kept saying that if I would have played till the last ball India could’ve won the match. Rivaba while talking to Bombay Times said, “He was inconsolable after the loss and kept saying, ‘If I wouldn’t have got out, we could’ve won’. When you lose a match after coming this close, it really hurts and it will be a while before he comes to terms with it.”

“If you look at his journey, he has always performed in crunch games, taking wickets and scoring vital runs. When we won the ICC Champions Trophy in 2013, he was the man of the match in the final for his all-round performance,” she added.

India lost few early wickets in the game and at one stage India was 92-6, that’s when Ravindra Jadeja came in. Jadeja notched up a record 100-run sixth wicket partnership with MS Dhoni for India to take the scoreboard to 208. After Jadeja’s wicket, MS Dhoni was also dismissed run-out and that’s when India lost the momentum.
