Mumbai Indians beat Chennai Super Kings to become the most successful team in the Indian Premier League. Mumbai won their record fourth title under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy.

Mumbai Indians defeated Chennai Super Kings by just 1 run in another nail biting match to clinch the title. After winning the toss Rohit Sharma decided to bat first. Opener Quinton de Kock gave a good start as he scored 29 runs before getting out off Shradul Thakur’s ball.

Skipper Rohit Sharma scored another low score of 15 before falling to Deepak Chahar. Suryakumar Yadav scored 15, Ishan Kishan (23), Krunal Pandya (7). Big man Kieron Pollard played another big innings for his team to take them to 149 from 20 overs. Pollard remained unbeaten as he scored 41 runs off 25 balls.

Chennai Super Kings started well in the second innings as both their openers were looking good. Faf du Plessis scored 26 runs off 13 balls at a strike rate of 200 before Krunal Pandya dismissed him. Shane Watson took the matters in his own hands as he started scoring single handedly before an unfortunate run-out cut short his innings. Watson scored 80 off 59 balls which included 4 maximums and 8 boundaries. Dwayne Bravo scored 15 off 15 before being dismissed by Jasprit Bumrah. Rest all of them were dismissed in a single digit score.

It was a deja vu from last year when Watson started hitting, it was looking as if he would single handedly finish the game but his innings was cut short by Krunal Pandya and de Kock. Lasith Malinga bowled the last ball and took dismissed Shradul Thakur to deny CSK a run and helped his team clinch the fourth title.
