Mohammed Shami silenced his critics including legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar as he helped India win yet another game in World Cup 2019. Mohammed Shami took two consecutive 4-wicket hauls in this World Cup and also became the fastest bowler to reach 25 wickets in World Cup surpassing Australia’s Mitchell Starc.

Sachin Tendulkar after the Afghanistan game said that Bhuveneshwar Kumar should be brought in place of Shami as he was the first choice of Virat Kohli. Bhuveneshwar Kumar was ruled out after he suffered from a hamstring injury in a match against Pakistan. Mohammed Shami replaced Kumar and became a crucial part in winning matches for India.

Shami took a hat-trick in the very first game he played in 2019 World Cup and also became the second Indian to do so in a World Cup match after Chetan Sharma in 1987. Shami’s bowling figure against West Indies read 4-16 at an economy of 2.53.

India’s bowling coach Bharat Arun in a pre-match press conference said that it is a good headache to have as all of their bowlers are doing a great job and it will be hard to replace anyone in the game further on. Bharat was replying to a question on Bhuveneshwar’s return.

India defeated West Indies by 125 runs to climb on the second spot on the points table. India scored 268-7 and in reply, they bundled out West Indies for just 143 runs.
