Misbah-ul-Haq abdicates from PCB Cricket Committee in bid to become Pakistan head coach

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Monday announced that Misbah-ul-Haq has relinquished from his PCB Cricket Committee’s post after conveying his interest in applying for the role of the national cricket team’s head coach.

Misbah-ul-Haq made contact with PCB Director, Zakir Khan on Monday afternoon and notified him of his decision, after which he officially put in an application for the role of the head coach.

Misbah-ul-Haq went on to say: “It has been interesting to see my name being mentioned as a future head coach of the Pakistan cricket team, but the fact is I only made the decision today.

“I am applying for the head coach’s role fully aware that the competition will be tough as I envisage there will be a few more very competent and highly qualified people applying for one of the most challenging jobs in the game.

“In saying so, I have to admit it is everyone’s dream to coach Pakistan cricket team, which has tremendous potential to be a force to be reckoned with across all formats.”

The Pakistan cricket body advertised for the role of the national team’s head coach on 9th August, with the last date for approach being 26th August. The PCB hopes to end the affair by September so that the new team management can begin charge as soon as possible and prepare the national side for the upcoming international season, which gets going on 27th September with the ODI and T20I series with Sri Lanka in Karachi.
