Irfan Pathan becomes first Indian cricketer to sign up for Caribbean Premier League players draft. If sold, Irfan will become the first Indian cricketer to play in a foreign league. No Indian cricketer has played in foreign leagues till now as the BCCI doesn’t allow them to do so.

Players like Rashid Khan, Jofra Archer, Alex Hales, Shakib Al Hasan have also signed up for the league. Caribbean stars Andre Russell, Shimron Hetmyer, Sunil Narine and Shai Hope have also signed up for the league.


Irfan Pathan is a bowling all-rounder and plays for Jammu & Kashmir in India’s domestic cricket. He has played for Kings XI Punjab, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Delhi Daredevils, Chennai Super Kings, Rising Pune Supergiants and Gujarat Lions in the Indian Premier League.

Pathan played an important part in inaugural T20 World Cup which India won in 2007 under the captaincy of MS Dhoni. Pathan has played 29 Test and 120 ODI matches for India taking 273 wickets and scoring more than 2,600 runs.

Trinbago Knight Riders won the Caribbean Premier League 2018. The team is co-owned by Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan, who also co-owns Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League. The Caribbean Premier League 2019 will start from September 4 and will end on October 12. A record 536 players have registered themselves for the players draft this time.
