The Chennai Police has arrested 24 people for selling Indian Premier League (IPL) tickets in black near the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai's Chepauk. 


According to the police, a total of 62 tickets and cash worth Rs 65,700 were seized from the accused. The match between Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals was played on April 12.

 Case registered and investigation underway

The police have registered the case under the relevant section and are further investigating the matter. This is not the first time that such an incident has occurred. 

On April 11, five people were arrested for allegedly printing and selling fake IPL match tickets. Based on the tip-off about the fake tickets, police officials in plain clothes took up positions near the Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium during Delhi Capitals vs Mumbai Indians T20 cricket match and arrested a total of five people for selling fake tickets.

The incident of fake IPL tickets being sold is becoming more and more common, and it is not only affecting the revenue of the cricket board but also the fans. The police have urged people not to buy tickets from unauthorized sources and to report any such activities immediately.
