Former Australia captain and the current Delhi Capitals coach Ricky Ponting has backed Rishabh Pant for India’s World Cup squad. After Rishabh Pant failed to impress with his bat in the recently concluded ODI series against Australia his name is under suspicion for the World Cup team.

Ponting said, “We want him to focus on IPL because if the boys do well they will get a call for the World Cup.”

The new Delhi Capitals advisor, Sourav Ganguly said that IPL 2019 will help India decide their number four batsman for World Cup. “Many choices are there but I think the IPL will in a way decide who will get that position. I had said Cheteshwar Pujara because he has been in good form. I saw Rahul Dravid do the role when I was captain. If you don't have an option you can try him,” Sourav added.

Rishabh Pant will now be seen in the Indian Premier League and he will be playing for Delhi Capitals.

This time, the management has bought their Delhi man Shikhar Dhawan back in the team. They also have bought Colin Ingram for Rs 6.40 crore, Axar Patel for Rs 5 crore, Sherfane Rutherford for Rs 2 crore, Hanuma Vihari for Rs 2 crore and Ishant Sharma for Rs 1.10 crore.

DC squad for 2019: Shreyas Iyer (C), Rishabh Pant, Shikhar Dhawan, Kagiso Rabada, Colin Munro, Chris Morris, Trent Boult, Sandeep Lamichhane, Colin Ingram, Ishant Sharma, Bandaru Ayyappa, Manjot Kalra, Nathu Singh, Sherfane Rutherford, Prithvi Shaw, Rahul Tewatia, Ankush Bains, Axar Patel, Avnesh Khan, Harshal Patel, Keemo Paul, Hanuma Vihari, Amit Mishra, Jalaj Saxena
