India Under-19 star Shubman Gill who led his team to the World Cup victory in New Zealand earlier last year was called in for an ODI series against the Kiwis. The Indian men’s team reached New Zealand on Sunday after they finished their tour of Australia.

The Punjab player was seen sweating out in the nets at his first training session with the senior men’s team. The playing XI for the ODI match against New Zealand is yet to be announced but Shubman Gill is likely to be in the squad as he showed a great performance with his bat in New Zealand last year.

The Virat Kohli-led ODI team won their first ever bilateral series in Australia by 2-1 on January 18. Earlier this month, India also became the first Asian team to win a Test series on Australian soil, India won the series by 2-1 and this was their first win in Australia in their 71 year of cricket history.

Cheteshwar Pujara was awarded with the Player of the series trophy in the Test while MS Dhoni was the Player of the series in the ODIs. While Pujara scored three centuries in the Tests, MS Dhoni scored hat-tricks of half-centuries.
