This team is one of the favourites to win the World Cup, says Sunil Gavaskar

“If you go by what has happened in the last couple of World Cups, the host team has always won. But, of course, in cricket anything is possible. While England starts as the favourites, there are other teams who are also playing some good cricket,” says Gavaskar.

Former Indian captain Sunal Gavaskar has asserted that England are the favourites to win the World Cup this time, simply because of the cricketing attitude and their approach to better themselves after the group stage exit in the 2015 World Cup. England are currently the top seed in the ICC ODI Team Ranking.

"England are the favourites simply because of the way they are playing cricket, the complete turnaround in their cricketing attitude and approach after their disastrous 2015 World Cup," Gavaskar told Reuters in an interview.

"England have a very good team, they have got lots of confidence. You have seen them in all the recent matches and they have been playing outstanding cricket." Gavaskar added.

Gavaskar feels Eoin Morgan led English team has a best chance of winning the World Cup if they go by what has happened in the last couple of World Cups.
