The former Indian speedster Ashish Nehra will always be remembered in the history of Indian cricket because of his unique bowling skills and his records. On 1 November, Ashish Nehra played his farewell match against New Zealand team.

Ashish Nehra's farewell had become more memorable because for the first time in the history of T20 international men-in blue had managed to defeat New Zealand.

In his 18-year-old international cricket career, Nehra has gone through several injuries and he made his comeback in international cricket after a gap of 4 years during Australia tour in January.

On 1 November, when the former Indian pacer was playing his last international match a 13-year-old picture of him with the current Indian skipper Virat Kohli was getting viral on the internet. While talking to Hindustan Times when the left-arm pacer was asked about the picture doing round on the internet, he said, "I’m not on social media but that picture has become popular now because where Virat Kohli is today. Otherwise, it was just a picture on the wall and nobody would have admired it. Now that picture belongs to Virat Kohli."

"This picture was taken some 13 years back. When I was playing in 2009-11, Virat was also playing. Then nobody talked about that picture. It’s all about media and social media," Nehra further added.

While talking to ESPNcricinfo Virat Kohli also said that "That was back in 2003 after he had come back from the World Cup. I was 13 then and struggling for a place in the school team. To have played 19 years is very hard for a fast bowler. I know how professional he's been and how hard he's worked. He deserved this kind of a farewell with the crowd cheering him. He can now spend time with his family, he's got a beautiful family. We'll stay in touch but we'll miss him and I wish him all the best."

Ashish Nehra had made his debut in international cricket in 2001 against Zimbabwe in Harare. He had played 144 One Day International matches in which he had taken 157 wickets.
