The Australian former cricketer Andrew Symonds turns 43 today. He was known to be a big hitter and have so much power in his arms and shoulders. Symonds known for his all-around capability from fielding to batting, batting to bowling that he frame-up for the Australia. His nick name was 'Roy'.

Stephen Gray, who wrote Symonds’ autobiography along with the man himself, told DNA, “Matthew, Andrew and another friend went for swimming. As it happened, the boat had suddenly sunk leaving the three in deep water. They had to swim for more than three hours to reach an island. They knew there were sharks in the water, but they dared to do it.”


 

Symonds made his Test debut against Sri Lanka at Galle in March 2004. He featured his last Test in 2008 against South Africa at Melbourne. He scored 1462 runs from 26 games at an average of 40.61 with 2 tons and ten half-centuries to his name.

He made ODI's debut against Pakistan at Lahore in Gaddafi Stadium, Nov 10, 1998 . He went on to play 198 ODI’s for Australia where he scored 5088 runs from 198 matches at an average of 39.44 with 6 tons and 30 half- centuries to his name while in T20 career he made his debut against New Zealand at Eden Park, Feb 17, 2005. He scored 337 runs from 14 games at an average of 48.14.

Symonds also played for Deccan Chargers in the IPL. He has played English County cricket for teams like Kent, Gloucestershire and Lancashire.

Andrew Symond's talent of gettting into controversies created trouble in his cricketing career. Although, he was involved in Monkeygate scandal, which happened during the Australia versus India, Sydney Test in 2008.
