Australian cricketer Ashleigh Barty who played in women’s Big Bash League in 2015 and 2016, returned to Tennis and has reached the final of the French Open. Barty defeated 17-year old Amanda Anisimova from the USA by 6-7, 6-3, 6-3 in one hour and 53 minutes. The 23-year-old will face 19-year-old Marketa Vondrousova in the final.

Barty played for Brisbane Heat in women’s Big Bash League and scored 39 off 27 balls in her debut match. Before switching to cricket from Tennis Barty said, “it was too much too quickly for me as I've been travelling from quite a young age... I wanted to experience life as a normal teenaged girl and have some normal experiences.”

Barty announced her return to professional Tennis in February 2016. Barty won the US Open grand slam doubles with her partner CoCo Vandeweghe. Barty will play her French Open final today from 6:30 pm onwards.
