Australian bowlers displayed a brilliant performance to help their side secure a thumping 208-run win over New Zealand in the first Test of the three-match series in Brisbane on Monday, 9 November.

Chasing a massive target of 504, the visitors were bundled out for 295 in their second innings despite a great effort by skipper Brendon McCullum (80).

Nathan Lyon grabbed three wickets for Australia while Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Marsh took two wickets each.

Mitchell Johnson also helped New Zealand by bagging the wicket of all-rounder James Neesham.

David Warner was awarded the 'Man of the match' for his sparkling 163 in the first innings and 116 in the second innings.

With the win, Australia has taken a 1-0 lead in the series against New Zealand.

The two sides will now play their second Test at Perth from November 13 followed by the first ever day-night Test at Adelaide from November 27.
