In a heart-stopping moment captured on social media, Mamoudou Gassama, a Malian-French citizen, earned the nickname "Spider-Man of Paris" for his daring act on May 26, 2018.

This incredible feat involved scaling four stories of a building in just 30 seconds to rescue a four-year-old boy hanging from a balcony in the 18th arrondissement of Paris.

The Dramatic Rescue
The viral video on Twitter showcases Gassama's astonishing climb, highlighting his agility and bravery as he reached the child in distress. The child's father, who had left him unattended to go shopping, faced legal consequences for leaving his son unsupervised.

Recognition and Appreciation
Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo lauded Gassama as the "Spider-Man of the 18th," emphasizing the significance of his heroic act in the specific district where it occurred. President Emmanuel Macron personally thanked Gassama at the Élysée Palace on May 28, 2018, awarding him the Médaille d’honneur pour acte de courage et de dévouement. In a remarkable turn of events, Gassama was offered a role in the fire service, a position he graciously accepted.

Citizenship and Legacy
President Macron's initiative led to Gassama being granted French citizenship in September 2018, solidifying his place as a national hero. Gassama's courage not only saved a child's life but also sparked a wave of admiration and recognition for his selfless actions, leaving an enduring legacy that transcends borders.
