A thriller film-based scene has been reported in South Korea where a man was discovered a pile of cash taped under a refrigerator that he recently purchased online.

The Jeju Island resident was left shocked when he saw the bundles of 50,000 won currency notes wrapped in transparent plastic sheets while cleaning the kimchi refrigerator.

The money was around 110 million won (Rs 96 lakh) and was taped under the fridge. After seeing the money, he immediately reported the incident to the police.

After receiving a complaint, the police have launched an investigation to trace down the origin of the money.

Police are tracing the seller who listed the refrigerator on an online platform. Also, investigating the role of people who delivered the product to the buyer, as per local news report.

Moreover, the owner showed his sincereness by reporting the matter to the police. Reports suggested that he could get a share from the large sum of money. As per the South Korean Lost and Found Act, if the owner can’t be traced then the founder would get the amount.

Therefore, the Jeju resident will get the entire sum of money after 22 percent tax. Even if the owner is traced, the Jeju resident will definitely get the share of the money.

In case, the money is reported to have a criminal link then the entire amount will be confiscated by the law enforcement agencies.
