Nawaz Sharif, former Pakistan PM's wife Kulsoom Nawaz passes away at the age of 68 in London

Former Pakistan PM Nawaz Sharif's wife Kulsum Nawaz passed away in London. She was 68 years old. Kulsum was under treatment at London’s Harley Street Clinic since July last year.

According to reports, her health deteriorated on Monday night and she was placed on life support. Sharif’s wife was reportedly diagnosed with lymphoma (throat) cancer in August 2017, and since then she was receiving treatment.


Husband Nawaz Sharif, along with her daughter Maryam Nawaz is serving a jail sentence at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi. The father-daughter duo were arrested by anti-corruption officials on July 16 in the Avenfield corruption case soon after they arrived in Lahore from Abu Dhabi.

According to Pakistan media Geo TV, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz President Shehbaz Sharif and her son, Hussain Nawaz, confirmed that the former first lady breathed her last at a clinic in London.

The former first lady of Pakistan, Begum Kulsoom is survived by her husband Nawaz Sharif and four children, Hassan, Hussain, Maryam and Asma. They were handed jail sentences of 10 years and seven years, respectively.
