US Open 2015: Federer demolishes Gasquet to set up semi-final clash against Wawrinka

Seventeen-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer produced a sublime performance in his quarter-final match against Frenchman Richard Gasquet on Wednesday, 9 September, to book a place in the US Open men's singles semi-finals.

The World no 2 smashed 50 winners and 16 aces to easily overcome Gasquet in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3, 6-1, in a contest that lasted just 87 minutes. Federer, thus maintained, his record of winning all matches in straight sets at Flushing Meadows this year.

The Swiss star will next face compatriot Stanislas Wawrinka, who brushed aside Andy Murray's conqueror Kevin Anderson in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4, 6-0, in a 107-minute long quarter-final encounter at the Louis Armstrong Stadium.
