And this is when the applause come in. Sony Television's The Kapil Sharma Show won the TRP battle with Colors' Bajirao Mastani, on Saturday, 23 April, 2016.

While The Kapil Sharma Show was always slated to premiere on 23 April, Colors decided to battle the same by airing the third biggest hit of 2015, Bajirao Mastani at the 9PM TV slot.

The opening episode of The Kapil Sharma Show recorded BARC rating of 3.0 whereas World TV Premiere of Bajirao Mastani failed to grab eyeballs with a television rating of 2.4.

On Sunday, 24 April 2016, Colors aired a special Maha Episode of Comedy Nights Live and Bachao and the combined rating of the two was 1.7 and at the same time, The Kapil Sharma Show rated 2.9.

An interesting point to note here is that fact that viewers of Sony TV jumped by a massive 24 per cent in comparison to week 16. The channel recorded a GRP (Total Viewership) of 347 million in week 17 as against 278 million in week 16.
