Tollywood Box Office: Rustom, Babu Bangaram shine, Mohenjo Daro sinks without a trace

This Friday saw the release of three films at the Telugu Box Office. Daggubati Venkatesh's Babu Bangaram and Bollywood films, Akshay Kumar's Rustom and Hrithik Roshan's Mohenjo Daro.

As expected, the Daggubati Venkatesh-starrer Babu Bangaram embarked on a decent start at the Tollywood Box Office. The film, directed by Maruthi and jointly produced by S Radha Krishna, Naga Vamsi and PDV Prasad, marks the Telugu comeback of Malayalam actress Nayanthara after two years. According to early estimates, the film has minted Rs 6 crore on its opening day despite losing a number of screens to Rustom and Mohenjo Daro.

However, the critic reviews have slammed it for being an average film, something that may work to spoil the party after an impressive opening weekend.

Like in most other states, the Akshay Kumar-starrer Rustom recorded a better opening than Mohenjo Daro. The Bollywood Khiladi's consecutive hits in 2016 and the presence of Telugu actress Ileana D'cruz helped the film beat the period drama.

Meanwhile, Hrithik Roshan's Mohenjo Daro opened on a disappointing note at the Tollywood Box Office. The actor's last three releases, Bang Bang (2014) Krrish 3 (2013) and Agneepath (2012) recorded higher opening numbers than the Ashutosh Gowariker directorial.
