Robot 2.0: Shankar wraps up shooting for 50% of Rajinikanth - Akshay Kumar film

The team of the much-awaited Enthiran 2 (2.0 or Robot 2) have successfully completed 100 days of the film's shooting schedule.

The Shankar directorial will see megastar Rajinikanth returning to his Enthiran (Robot) avatar. The sci-fi flick will also see Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar making his Kollywood debut. Akshay plays the antagonist in the film.

Director Shankar, who is fondly called India's Spielberg, has completed two main sequences of the film. The director has already shot the climax and important action scenes with heavy VFX sequences featuring the Thalaiva and Bollywood's Khiladi. Shankar took to his Facebook page to express his happiness at the completion of 100 days of shooting.

According to reports, a fight sequence between Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar was shot on a set worth Rs 20 crore - that was constructed in Poonamalle, West Chennai.

Akshay Kumar, who is riding high on the success of his Bollywood releases Airlift and Housefull 3, is reported to be very excited about his Tamil debut. The actor, who is a self-proclaimed Rajnikanth fan, revealed that he was excited to "be punched by the Thalaiva".

Enthiran 2, produced by Subaskaran Allirajah, chairman and founder of Lyca Mobile/Productions, has been made at a budget of Rs 350 crore - making it the most expensive film yet.
