Dhruva, Singam 3, Munthirivallikal Thalirkumbol, Dangal : 4 superstar films to dominate Christmas 2016

Indian film lovers will be spoilt for choice this Christmas as four superstar movies are lined up for release in the last month of the 2016. Interestingly, films of top superstars like Mohanlal, Aamir Khan, Suriya and Ram Charan are slated to be released this December.

Top December releases-lineup includes;

1) Dhruva

The much-awaited Telugu release of 2016, Dhruva is slated to be released on 9 December 2016. The film, written and directed by Surender Reddy and produced by Allu Aravind under the banner of Geetha Arts, is an official remake of 2015 Tamil blockbuster Thani Oruvan. Ram Charan will be seen in two different avatars in the film, as an intelligence agent and as police officer. Rakul Preet Singh will reprise Nayanthara's role of Dhruva from the original while Aravind Swami, who won acclaim for his portrayal of the antagonist in Thani Oruvan has been retained for the Telugu remake. The hype for the film is so strong at overseas as well as many insiders within the industry had predicted that the film will mark Ram Charan's entry into the 1 Million Club.

2) Singam 3

Similar to Dhruva, another film to watch out for in the last month of the year is Suriya's Tamil film Singam 3. The Hari directorial will see Suriya essaying in one of his most loved avatars, as DSP Durai Singam. The trailer of the film, which had released recently has broken the likes of Vijay's Theriand Bairavaa to become the second fastest Tamil trailer to mint more than 5 Million views on YouTube. Singam 3 was earlier scheduled to release in the auspicious occasion of Diwali, but the Ghajini actor requested the film makers to postpone the film to 23 December to avoid the clash with his brother Karthi's recent Diwali release Kaashmora. Singam 3 also stars Anushka Shetty, Shruti Haasan and Anoop Thakur Singh. With Singam 3, the makers are hoping for a hat-trick of hits like its prequels , Singam and Singam 2.

3) Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol

Malayalam superstar Mohanlal's Dusshera release Pulimurugan is still doing phenomenal business at the Box Office, but the actor is ready with his Christmas release, Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol, which is scheduled to hit the screens on 22 December 2016. The film also marks the collaboration of Lalettan and Meena after the 2013 blockbuster Drishyam. Produced by Sophia Paul and directed by Jibu Jacob, the family-entertainer also stars an ensemble star cast including Anoop Menon, Srindaa Arhan, Kasaba fame Neha Saxena and Kalabhavan Shajon in supporting roles. With Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol, Mohanlal will be looking for his fourth blockbuster of the year after Telugu film Janatha Garage and Malayalam films Oppam and Pulimurugan.

4) Dangal

The last biggie of 2016, Bollywood film Dangal starring Aamir Khan is slated to be released on 23 December. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and jointly produced by Aamir Khan and Siddharth Roy Kapur, the film is based on the true story of former wrestler-turned-coach, Mahavir Singh Phogat. The trailer of the film, which had released on 20 October was a massive hit with critics and audience alike. In fact the young Malayalam superstar Prithviraj Sukumaran too had showered praised on the trailer by calling it evocative and mind blowing. The film was again in news recently for the actor's body transformation video for the role of Mahavir Singh. Dangal also stars Sakshi Tanwar, Fatima Sana Shaikh, and debut actress Sanya Malhotra.
