The shooting for one of the most anticipated Malayalam films of the year, the Mohanlal-Priyadarshan film Oppam has kickstarted in Cochin.

According to reports, Oppam - touted to be a murder mystery - will see Mohanlal essaying the role of a blind man who unwittingly gets entangled in a crime.

The film marks the Malayalam cinema comeback of popular actress Vimala Raman after a gap of eight years. The actress was last seen in the 2008 film College Kumaran, which also starred Mohanlal.

Oppam will also be the Malayalam debut of Kannada-Tamil actress Sanchita Shetty and Bollywood actress Devshi Khanduri. The film has been written by Govind and is being produced by Antony Perumbavoor under his banner Aashirvad Cinemas.

Director Priyadarshan will be looking for a success with Oppam as his previous two films Geethaanjali and Aamayum Muyalum were Box Office flops.
