South Asian Games 2016: Gold rush continues for India on 4th day

India continued to dominate the medals tally at the ongoing South Asian Games, in Guwahati and Shillong, with more medals across different sports categories on the fourth day of the Games.

Among the most prominent medal winners on Monday was Joshna Chinappa, who clinched the gold medal in squash after a hard-fought 10-12, 11-7, 11-9, 11-7 win over Pakistan's Maria Toorpakai Wazir.

In weightlifting, Kavita Devi won the gold in the women's 75 kg category, while shooter Rajat Chauhan bagged the top prize in the men's singles compound archery event.

With Monday's wins, India consolidated its position at the top of the medals tally with a total of 42 golds and a medal count of 60. Sri Lanka, with 8 golds and a total of 49 medals, remain at second.

Pakistan occupy the third position with 4 golds and a medal count of 25. Bangladesh, Nepal and Afghanistan are at fourth, fifth and sixth, respectively.
