Yeddyurappa's BJP fails in Karnataka: Arvind Kejriwal to Mamata Banerjee, opposition leaders say ‘Democracy wins’
A wind of joy spread within the opposition parties across the country after BJP failed to prove its majority and Yeddyurappa submits his resignation from the Chief Ministership and celebrated it as a victory of Democracy. In a press conference held after Yeddyurappa's resignation, Congress chief Rahul Gandhi said, he hoped that the BJP and RSS had learned their lesson that the country’s institutions cannot be subverted.
Other Congress leaders were also seen celebrating BJP's government failure and a criticism of the BJP was on peak. Senior Congress leader and former finance minister P Chidambaram tweeted that democracy was saved “for the time being”.
Chidambaram also tweeted, When the puppeteers fail, the puppet falls and breaks referring to BJP's BS Yeddyurappa.

Punjab chief minister and Congress leader Captain Amarinder Singh tweeted that the nexus between the BJP and the governor has been exposed while the Congress’ moral and political stand has been upheld.

West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee took to Twitter to congratulate the people of Karnataka, HD Deve Gowda, Kumaraswamy and Congress, hailing the resignation as a victory for the democracy.
“Democracy wins. Congratulations to Karnataka. Congratulations DeveGowda Ji, Kumaraswamy Ji, Congress and others. The victory of the ‘regional’ front,” she wrote.

Delhi chief minister and Aam Aadmi Party chief, Arvind Kejriwal also tweeted, saying BJP’s attempts to “subvert democracy” and its lust for power through “foul means” had failed in Karnataka.
“BJP’s attempts to subvert democracy have miserably failed in Karnataka. BJP's lust for power through foul means stands completely exposed. Will BJP learn any lesson now? India's judiciary has risen to the occasion and has safeguarded our democracy.”

India's judiciary has risen to the occasion and has safeguarded our democracy.
Andhra Pradesh chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu also joined the chorus of 'criticising voice' and expressed relief that the BJP’s undemocratic behaviour is finally defeated.
“Right now a news came that BS Yeddyurappa has resigned. Are all of you happy? All those who believe in democracy are happy. Amit Shah tried to win Karnataka in all ways and means. Their undemocratic behaviour is defeated,” Naidu said at a meeting at Amravati in Andhra Pradesh.
The Andhra Pradesh chief minister also said that today is the day when democracy has won and is finally saved.
“Karnataka governor misused his power by calling BJP instead of Congress - Janata Dal (Secular). When people at the stature of the Prime Minister and President of a national party encourage corruption; what kind of indications do they want to give. At last, democracy is saved. We all are very happy. As a chief minister and supporter of democracy, I welcome this development,” Naidu said.
Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav also attacked the BJP. He tweeted,
आज का दिन भारतीय राजनीति में धनबल की जगह जनमत की जीत का दिन है. सबको खरीद लेने का दावा करने वालों को आज ये सबक मिल गया है कि अभी भी भारत की राजनीति में ऐसे लोग बाकी हैं, जो उनकी तरह राजनीति को कारोबार नहीं मानते हैं. नैतिक रूप से तो केंद्र की सरकार को भी इस्तीफ़ा दे देना चाहिए.
