UPSC toppers Tina Dabi and Athar Aamir are likely to be among 600 successful civil services candidates who will attend a mentoring session conducted by RSS joint general secretary Krishna Gopal in Delhi on 17 July.

All these candidates had been part of coaching and training sessions at Samkalp, a Sangh-run institute that has three branches in Delhi and 14 across the country, according to The Economic Times. The two toppers, Delhi-based Dabi and Anantnag-based Aamir trained in mock interviews at Samkalp after they had cleared the Union Public Service Commission's written exams, said Prakash, a coordinator at the coaching institute.

"The interview is the last and the most crucial leg of the examination, and we have the best people offering guidance," said Prakash.

According to Samkalp's website, its mentors and advisers include former governors Jagmohan, NN Jha and Vijai Kapoor, retired IFS officer Arvind R Dev, former IAS officers Jagdish Chander Jaitley and R Ramakrishnan, and retired Lt General Kapil Nanda.

Prakash said that of the 1,078 candidates who passed the UPSC exams this year, 646 had been coached at Samkalp at some stage or the other.

An RSS leader said: "Now each state and cadre has civil servants who owe their success to Samkalp. In the next 10 years, we hope to have a bureaucracy that will genuinely contribute to nation-building with true Indian values and ethos. This is what we are working towards."
