The National Investigation Agency (NIA) carried out raids on Saturday at two homes in Pulwama district in relation with the lethal suicide bombing orchestrated last February by the Jaish-e-Mohammed. In which 40 CRPF jawans lost their lives.

The NIA is raiding the homes of Shakir Bashir Magrey, who it says was the main handler of the suicide bomber, and Nazim Ahmed Rather, who sources say is an over ground worker fr the terror outfit and was involved in the attack on 14th February, 2019.

The NIA took Magrey into custody on Friday. Officials stated that the furniture shop owner, who lives in Hajibal, had given refuge and other logistical aid to the suicide bomber, Adil Ahmed.

Days following the deadly attack, India announced that it had carried out an airstrike on a Jaish-e-Mohammed training camp. The operation was widely seen as payback for the suicide bombing.

The airstrike in Balakot, in Pakistan’s Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province, was followed by a dogfight between India and Pakistan warships, in which Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman was take captive. He was later released.
