A junior level Navy doctor in New Delhi has accused her senior, a surgeon commander, of molesting her.

According to a Times of India report, the victim has alleged that the surgeon commander molested her twice this month. The accused was later sent on forced leave by the Navy after the incident was reported.

According to reports, the accused surgeon was awarded the Vishisht Seva Medal on Republic Day in 2016. He is currently posted at the naval administrative and logistics establishment called INS India in the national capital.

The matter is being investigated by the Board of Inquiry and a report has been submitted to the Naval Headquarters in this regard. The Navy has pledged to take strict action if the officer is found guilty.

"The Navy has a zero-tolerance policy on such matters. If the accused is found guilty, he can be summarily dismissed from service," the TOI quoted an officer as saying.
